I'm sooo over it πŸ™„

Reader, I bet you can relate to Paula's story.

Paula is a highly educated professional.

She works in an organization filled with experts who frequently lack emotional intelligence and leadership skills.

She's feeling frustrated because the managers above her only recognize her leadership by giving her more tasks.

In her recent annual review, she received only the typical increase, despite the volume of extra work she had taken on.

Her dissatisfaction is stealing her joy, and she's wondering how much longer she wants to stay.

Reader, I have been Paula at the end of every company I left.

When you look for happiness outside of yourself, you are always chasing the next thing.

I've taken this lesson to heart and made it the heart of my Star TreatmentπŸ’«5-point System.

Honor Your Inner Star

Make no mistake about it, in the above story, Paula knows she is a rock star for her employer.

She has ego about her ability to deliver that demands to be seen, appreciated, and rewarded.

She is happy to take center stage and "front the band," but eventually she will settle for no less than being treated like the star she is.

Too often, the message stars like Paula receive is to continue delivering their stellar performance, but then to be humble and not seek recognition and rewards.

I say, "Poppycock!"

Reader, when you hear it so plainly called out like that, it is clearly nonsense.

In 2022 I challenged the notion that culture required action from the top of the organization and spread my message of empowerment to individuals at every level.

In 2025, I'm challenging the idea that workplace stars are not allowed to demand recognition and value as the company reaps the benefits of their exceptional performance.

Moreover, I aim to amplify star power throughout organizations through intentional conversations and behaviors that encourage everyone to bring their best selves daily.

Star TreatmentπŸ’« transforms workplace culture by helping organizations recognize and nurture the unique strengths and gifts each employee brings in service of the whole, fostering engagement, loyalty, accountability, and collaborative excellence.

Help me ignite the revolution.

PERFORMANCE: Full discretionary effort from employees and resilience in the face of any challenge.

Reader, if you want to grow do this... I used to teach gymnastics. I would watch girls work so hard to learn a new skill only to have their overall performance decline at the meet despite nailing the new skill. In sports this is known as the a temporary dip. I told them the one and only sports psychology truth I knew: the dip is expected; perseverance is the key. Now I find myself in that same situation. I started playing pickleball in March and I am just starting to feel like I can hold my...

Reader, steal this and avoid the dreaded PIP. To protect their anonymity I'm going to call this client Acme Incorporated. They had an attendance problem that was quickly becoming a turnover problem. Workers were consistently arriving late or calling out at the last minute, which resulted in internal chaos as remaining staff scrambled to deliver services to the on-site clients each day. Every day felt like the team was short staffed creating extra stress for managers, workers, and clients....

Reader, last week I hit a mental low. One of my closest friends packed up her life and moved 15 hours away. Even though I know we will remain friends, I am feeling deeply sad to lose the spontaneous hangout in person opportunities. Her presence got me through one of the toughest times I have faced. She matters to me. So in this state of sadness, Miranda (my inner critic) decides it's the perfect time to call me out as completely inadequate, pointing to my failure to be further in my business...
