Reader I should have acted sooner. For the past few years our health insurance plan has offered the Hinge Health programs as a free benefit. I blythly ignored it despite my struggles with plantar fascitis and occaisional hip pain. I'd learned that hip pain was a signal that my footwear needed and upgrade, and that had worked for years until this spring when a stabbing pain in my right hip started disrupting my sleep and my activities. I started seeing a sports massage therapist when they pain got severe. Her treatment provided temporary relief. So, two weeks ago I signed up for the Hinge Health program and started following the physical therapy programming on the app. After three sessions my hip pain was gone. But what I noticed was how tight my neck and shoulders were. I updated the program in my app to include shoulder work and started adding extra stretch sessions for my neck. Then my free TENS device arrived in the mail and the app encouraged me to hook it up and give it a try that day. I placed it where the neck and shoulder meet on my right side and let it work for an hour. Holy $h!t! I felt like I'd just paid my massage therapist $150 and it cost me nothing! I realized what a dunce I had been. I'd been spending all of this money when someone had offered me a perfectly great solution for free. In fact, had I understood the power of the TENS device sooner, I would have gladly spent the money to buy it. It turns out my should and neck have significant issues. I'm using the TENS device every day along with the stretching and exercise in the app. The progress is slow and steady—a win I will gladly take. Reader I had a profound moment over Thanksgiving thanks to my eldest daughter. It's after 8 PM on Thanksgiving. I'm in the front passenger seat. My husband is driving, and my daughters are in the back seat. We are in an upscale neighborhood where we've been enjoying our Thanksgiving feast at a friend's home. Many homes are already lit with Christmas lights. We turn onto the main thoroughfare and there are four houses in a row with the same commercial style lights outlining the front of the...

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey and for being a part of mine. My word for 2025 is change. Reader I met my husband at my second job out of graduate school. I wasn't looking for a husband but there he was. Our first "date" was an after work meet up of the young professionals at the manufacturing plant where we worked. I wanted to resist the attraction because dating someone where you work is such a cliche. Truthfully, I don't think we would have been an office romance that lasted except for one agreement we made from the outset—we didn't talk about work. My time with Dave was carved...
